SwitchedOn is taking a break

But it’s a good time to electrify!

As SwitchedOn reported this week Australian households are electrifying faster than anyone predicted.

The actions of individuals do matter.

The energy market operator (AEMO) anticipates Australian households and their consumer energy resources – rooftop solar, electric cars, heat pumps, and electric cooktops – will play a critical role in the accelerating transition to renewables.

And that could mean less dependence on large scale renewable infrastructure projects.

But we still have a long way to go, and we need to ensure every household has an opportunity to electrify and transition to a cleaner, greener future.

Here are a few of our stories that have proved popular this year:

We can't build cities around cars, even if they are electric

Ignore the efficiency claims made by heat pump manufacturers

Breaking even on 2 Teslas, solar panels and batteries in just over 8 years

Surprisingly easy, straightforward and fun - a 3 year journey to electrify in northern Sydney

Electrifying the farm

Whenever I walk into a kitchen and see gas burners my heart sinks

Heat pumps are the most efficient heating technology ever invented

How heat pumps became a Nordic success story

So you want to buy a heat pump? Here's how

What financial incentives and rebates are available to help purchase efficient electric appliances?

We’d like to thank Boundless Earth for their support over this last year – without them SwitchedOn wouldn’t have been possible.

Hopefully we’ll be back in the new year!

Wishing you all a relaxing break, and a peaceful new year.
